30 Day Challenge~~Thanksgiving~~Day 8....

Cat, at The Whimsical Gardener, has challenged us to a 30 Day Challenge of Thanksgiving.
A post a day, for 30 days, to celebrate the things we are thankful for, in our lives.

~~Day 8~~

Today, I'm thankful for our wildlife.

Yes, you heard me right.
Most of the time, I'm whining about the deer.

But, after having weekend guests two weekends in a row, we begin to see the deer in the same light we did when we first arrived here.....beautiful creatures.
We get used to them, and annoyed by them, most of the time.
They are destructive.

But, they are also beautiful.

The bucks are busy chasing and fighting over the ladies, this time of year.
We've seen more with wounds from those fights this year.

All that means there will be more of these running around next spring.
More mouths to feed.

So, we're thankful to live in a place where we can have free entertainment...some a little risque....
and, be surrounded by Nature's beauty.

  1. Those are great photos! I can't imagine looking up and seeing a deer in my yard. You truly have a wildlife habitat in your own backyard.

  2. I love them too, as long as they stay away from my plants. David told me her saw the turkeys out there this morning. They'd better be watching out!

  3. Yes, funny how we lose the wonder of what attracted us to a new place, and visiting friends bring it right back!

  4. My aunt and uncle live out in Horseshoe Bay and are building here in our neighborhood. My uncle LOVES the deer and has quite a bond with them. I fear he will miss them more than he realizes. They are keeping both houses. I have a feeling he will be out at HSB more than he thinks just so he can socialize with the deer!

  5. Great shots of the deer. I love them too, but I know how destructive they can be in a persons garden and why so many people don't feel the same towards them. I feel for them as I know they are hungry. That last shot of the fawn is precious!!!!
