Canna Get a Witness?....

Thought I'd check in and show you the
Canna bloom.

Here's one.

Here's the other.

On the same plant.

Now, that's cool.

The bloom stalk was a bit weak, so it looks a little ragged.  Hope the next one does better.

Rain missed us....again.  Let's hope we get some soon.

Happy Gardening...

  1. That's an unusual bloom for sure...pretty though. Missing the rain desperately. It's getting really dry here. A few transplants from spring are looking really stressed but will hopefully hang in there. Anxiously awaiting fall already!

    1. I'm ready for fall already, too.
It was 111 on our thermometer here, yesterday....ugh!!!
We need to all start our rain dances.
Hope your transplants make it. I have a lot of those. They're drooping badly. Already tired of watering.

  2. That is one amazing canna in both bloom and foliage. There's no better witness than posting for all to see.

  3. Very nice bloom, and the 2nd canna photo shows a hint of a certain football team's colors you like so much, especially when it fades some! Sorry about the dryness again, New Mexico keeps leaving the door open...we'll get that fixed "manana".

    1. So....close that door, already!! There has been rain around us, but none here. It's getting very dry.

  4. I love the two colors on one plant! Thank you for visiting my peony image....Texas weather doesn't have cold enough winters for the peony to thrive. Fortunately for me, it's an easy plant to grow because I am not a good gardener!

    1. I love peonies. My mother grew them, up in Dallas. I never had much luck, even when we lived up there. Now in Central Texas...forget it. They are one of my favorite flowers, though.
You have such beautiful photography on your blog. And, I envy your cooler weather.
      Thanks for dropping by.

  5. Nice pix. They call red this genetic instability in some circles. I'm pretty sure that's Cleopatra. Glad to have found your blog via Dee.

This canna just had the tag 'red canna'....no name. I'll check out the name you gave. Thanks.

  6. Very cool foliage, too! I think it was Southern Living one time I read, "If you live in the south and you don't like cannas, you better learn to like them because they do so well in the south." I have learned to like the ones with great foliage :-) Yours fits the bill.

    1. I love cannas. They have that tropical look, without the tropical problems for Texas gardens.
I had better luck with them, up in the DFW area. But, I'm not giving up.
Have to have them inside the fence. They're on the 'deer resistant' list. But, our deer can't read, so that means nothing to them.

  7. I'm happy to see that cannas blooming. Seems like mine didn't bloom much last summer. Pretty flower and a cute title to blog.

This is a word verification free blog. It seems to be working out, so far.
