Bloomday, for June 2014.....

Here I go again....a day late.

But, I wanted to join
Carol at May Dreams Garden
for Bloomday.

There are several things blooming here.
I'll show you a few pictures, with few words.

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day...April,2013

It's been a long time, since I've joined in with Carol at

May Dreams Garden
for Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day.

Things are perking up around here,
but, I still don't have much blooming yet.

The one iris I have has bloomed.  It didn't for two years.
This is the only one that came all the way out.  Three other blooms were
'stuck', inside the leaves.  Not sure what that was about.

The Bougainvillea that has lived on the porch all winter...being covered and uncovered...
has been putting on new growth and blooms for a while.

I trimmed the Salvia greggii way back, a couple months ago, so it will bush out more.
It's beginning to give us some blooms.

The Jerusalem Sage is full of buds.  Some are beginning to open up.
Love these Dr. Seuss type blooms.

I moved this Silver Germander last fall, and trimmed it way back.
It's finally putting on new growth and a few blooms.

This Mealy Blue sage has multiplied, and is putting out some blooms.

It's such a pretty blue.  Not sure what the 'Mealy' part of the name is about.

The Stella d'Oro daylily is budding.
Some say this is an overused daylily.  But, I like the way it keeps on going.
The other daylilies here, are not budding out yet.

And last, but not least....the Ruby Chrystal Grass is blooming.
I thought it was a fall bloomer.  But, all the ones I have are blooming.
And, they made it through the hard freezes we've had.

Wish I had more.  But, it will come.
We're having very warm weather today.  But, they're saying we'll have
some cold mornings again, by the end of the week.

Flowers and Leaves....

Orange Esperanza

Again this month, I'm running late with Bloomday, so I'm combining it with Foliage Follow-up.  I can almost hear my dad chuckling.  He was always after me, for running late.

Autumn Fern

It's been interesting, since last Bloom and Foliage days.  July and August were hot and dry.

Then, we were visited by Hermine.  She wasn't the nicest guest.  She dropped LOTS of  water, on the area.

So, things are a bit bedraggled.

Wax Begonia

Most things liked the extra water.  Some, are looking pretty bad.  You won't see the Lamb's Ear that the water flowed over.  It's coming back.  But, it gets pretty squishy, with too much water.

The Inland Seaoats like some extra water.  They're putting on their fall colors.



Impatiense like extra to drink, too.

And, one of my favorite combinations of foliage, the Persian Shield and Coleus, with Oyster Plant peeking out.

The Castor Bean has a small bloom.  I'm hoping for some seeds, for next year.

The foliage is nice...although, I wanted it to be taller, by now.

Plectanthus 'Lavender Mona', likes some shade and extra water.  This is one of my favorites.  Easy to propagate from cuttings and it's bloomed all summer.  I didn't get a picture of the purple underside of the leaves.  It's good for foliage and flowers.  I'll be taking lots of cuttings soon, to make sure I have some next year.  It doesn't like the cold.

The Palm Grass is beginning to grow.  It was tested by the deer.  I was hoping it would be much taller, by now.

The Sago Palm we were worried had been frozen, has popped back quite nicely.

The Mexican Bush sage, salvia leucantha, is putting on it's fall show.  This is a tough plant.  Needs very little water, and likes lots of sun.

The gold Lantana is about to bloom a lot.  Notice the mesh....the deer like the blooms....grrrr...

Plumbago is doing well, despite too much shade.

And, speaking of too much shade...this Indigo Spires sage will be moved this winter.  It needs lots more sun.

The Agaves my neighbor gave me a while back, are doing well.  These are tough plants, too.

No talk of foliage would be complete, without the Cuban Oregano.  I really like this one.  More cuttings will be taken, for plants for next year.

I'll finish up, with another one of my favorites...Thryallis  It has been blooming a lot.  It's a bit 'leggy', I think.  But, as long as it blooms like this, I'll leave it where it is.

April Garden Bloggers' Bloomday, 2010

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloomday.  Thanks to Carol at May Dreams Garden, this is the day that garden bloggers show what's blooming in their part of the world.

Here, at Patchwork Garden, the flower blooming the most, is wild Prairie Verbena.  It's all along the creek, and filling the meadow.

I never realized it had such a scent.  But, walk into the meadow, and you can't miss it.

Since I've been remodeling the whole place,  most of the plants are newly planted.  A few made it through last summer, and the unusually cold winter.

And, I've moved things around that were here last year.  They must be happy...they're the first ones to bloom.

Calibrachoa..lived mostly outside on the porch all winter.

Bougainvillea....lived in the garage.

I've been digging more and more new beds, now that we have a fence.  I've been trying to fill them up with new plants.

Some were already blooming, when I got them.

Not much there, yet.

Spiderwort

This one, was left over from last year.  It's outside the fence in a pot, mixed with Dusty Miller.  Still, it got chomped over and over, last year.  And, it got chomped early this year.  But, I put a cage around it, and it got to show it's colors.  I don't have a sunny spot for it.  So, maybe it'll have to go live somewhere else.

Everything has been happy with the spring, so far.  Let's hope we have enough rain this year.
