Do You See What I See?....

Although it was really dry throughout April....less than a quarter of an inch of rain....early rain
brought out the grasses, in the Deer Grove.

In some places, the grasses are getting really dry, and turning brown.
But, shady areas are staying green.

Let's look closer.  What have we here?

Is this a new type of grass?  A grass with ears?

Oops!  Here's another one.

Ha!  Just the livestock.  Soon there will be smaller ones, hiding in the tall grass.
Another generation is due any time now.

Spring in the Hill Country.

Happy Gardening...

  1. Awww. How cute! It is amazing how dry everything is getting. We had a couple of mornings with drizzle and low temps. It felt great! Hopefully, there is more rain soon to come!

    1. We are lucky to live here. It seems way out, but we have neighbors right next door. Perfect set-up.

    1. The one in the photo is just about ready to have her babies. She lays around a lot. Guess I would too, with probably two babies that size...haha

  4. I was wondering what had happened to the deer. I see they are still around in your neighborhood. We have seen not a sighting in months. Also I have yucca in flower which is unheard of. They usually eat the stalk before it blooms. There is absolutely nothing for them to eat here anyway. Dry burnt dusty ground is all we have. Even the cedars are dying.Quite depressing.

    1. We've noticed fewer deer around this spring. We usually have twenty or more, out in the Deer Grove. Not sure where they went. There is lots of green around still...although it's drying up. But, they don't eat all that is growing out there. Strange.....
