Hold it...I Think You're Going to Like This Picture....

If you saw my Foliage Follow-Up post, you saw the above Canna bloom.

I wondered if that paintbrush orange, on half of this petal was some abnormal thing.

It took a few days for another bloom to start opening.

But look!  It's not abnormal.  This looks like it's going to be quite normal.

I have no idea what the name of this canna is.

We got it at a Flower Farm, over toward Blanco.  It was simply marked 'Red Canna'.

The real selling point to me, was this stripped leaf.

Another paintbrush technique on this plant.

Even without the blooms, this is a great plant.

I think I'm going to like this one.

Happy Gardening...

  1. Beautiful! I did see it on your Foliage Follow up. So very interesting. We've had that one before- I must confess I don't know the name but Michael would. I can ask him if you want. I just love how unique it is though. Great shots!!!!!

  2. Life with out flowers would surely be an empty and colorless world - so happy it's filled with color and not empty flowerless.. This flower is beautiful and unusual - hugs --

  3. How gorgeous! Like a tropical vacation. Do deer eat these?

  4. Hi, everybody.

Kacky..yes..if Michael knows, I'd love to have the name..thanks.

Kristeen...I agree. Life without flowers would, indeed, be colorless. I do really like foliage too, though.

Kathleen...Cannas are on the 'deer resistant' lists. But, some I brought from my old garden were eaten down to the soil line, in a pot. They don't bother some at our son's home, though. I guess any plant is a gamble, in deer country.

  5. Very pretty. I recently ordered some canna bulbs
( orange blooms, purple leaves) so have to plant them out.

  6. I do like this shot! That is the most beautiful canna I've ever seen. I'll check Flower Farm next year and see if I can give it a whirl.
