Welcome to June....

It's been a while since I posted.
We've been away.

It's the time of year, for my 'Girls Group' to get together.

Panama City Beach again.

We're still a good group.
And, we always have fun.

We caught a lot of good sunsets this year.

Afterward, Mr. P & I went to one of our group's home.
Spent a couple days, relaxing on their back porch, overlooking the small
lake, behind their house.  Lots of geese and ducks.

Then, the four of us went to San Augustine for a few days.
We stayed at the Bayfront Westcott House.
A lovely b&b, in an old house, right on the bay.

We did all the tourist things.
Above is Flagler College.  It was built as an exclusive hotel.
I took a lot of photos, and I'll post about San Augustine soon.

Back at home, the grapes are filling out.

We had a BIG rain.  One of those that make me nervous.
And, the creek started flowing again.  Lots of water over the waterfall.

The main thing blooming is the Monarda 'Peter's Purple'.
I love it.  It's supposed to be a bully.  But, that's ok with me.
Thanks Bob, for this pass along.

It's been a busy week, back at home.
But, I did manage to get by the garden center, for those annuals I didn't
want to plant before we left.

A gardener's gotta do, what a gardener's gotta do.
I think my family believes they need to start intervention.

So, that's the news from Patchwork Garden.

'Til later...
Take care...

  1. It is my impression everybody who has Peter's Purple is loving it. Somehow (I was hiding out under an overturned planter?) I didn't hear about it until very recently, but I certainly admire the deep color and everybody else's luck with getting it to perform well. I'll have to keep my eye out locally. And though they won't turn purple perhaps, those grapes are looking pretty luscious as well. I can't wait to hear what you decide to do with your first harvest.

    1. The Peter's Purple is great. It's about 4 feet tall. And, it's supposed to spread. That's ok with me.

The grape harvest will be quite small...about 3 good clusters. It's the first, and they aren't supposed to be too great. I think even the birds don't eat them. :/

  2. Hi Linda! It was a good break! Pictures are beautiful! Now, back to work! Love that euphorbia graminea (if I'm right) in the last picture. I started to plant it in containers a couple of years ago, and now, it's one of my favorites.

    1. Hi Tatyana,
Yes...that's the Diamond Frost euphorbia. It's an annual here. I like the airy form. It's going into a container.

  3. You had some lovely days out with your friends, enjoyed your pictures. When we come back from holidays in our gardens there is always so much to do, we also have just returned home and the garden looks like a wilderness.

And, yes...lots to do in the garden, on our return.

  4. Looks like you had a fun trip, Linda. The rain here has been so nice, but I suppose we'll be back to the usual summer pattern soon. At least the plants are starting off happy instead of stressed.

    1. Love the rain. Wouldn't it be nice, if it would rain about an inch a week...instead of coming down two inches in an hour?
I guess that won't happen, as long as we live in Texas.

  5. Thanks for the pictures! Our neighbor goes to Flagler, and I'd never seen it.

  6. I'm so glad you had a nice time on your trip! Looks like fun! I have the Peter's Purple Monarda too. It does like to spread, but I don't mind. Anything that pretty, I definitely need more of.

This is a word verification free blog. It seems to be working out, so far.
